The worst armed conflict anywhere in the world right now continues to rage in Syria. It is unclear how things will work out. Despite this, the Austrian aid organization SOS Kinderdorf is setting up a second children's village in Damascus – the third such village in Syria. It is a symbol for hope and reconstruction, and a ray of light for children who have been traumatized by the war and gunfire.
Why SOS Kinderdorf?
SOS Kinderdorf is currently the only aid organization in Syria that has the requisite infrastructure for providing a safe haven to children who have lost their parents and have nobody to protect them from the current crisis. In response to the urgent requirement for additional long-term accommodation, SOS Kinderdorf is now massively expanding its aid in Syria: it has recently bought a disused holiday park near Damascus which is to become a new home to 150 children. With the new village, SOS Kinderdorf is taking a big step away from the provision of emergency aid toward providing transitional and long term help at the local level.
inet and the minor Christmas miracle
inet-logistics is pleased to have contributed to the purchasing of the former holiday park and the required construction work! We hope that the children can move in before Christmas and experience safety and security once again!
On this note, we wish you a Merry Christmas with your friends and families, as well as a prosperous New Year for 2017!
